vintage sugar cane mill gear

This old sugar mill gear makes a wonderful accent piece with a story behind it. It was used in Thailand as part of a sugar cane grinder. The hole at the top would have a long piece of wood through it. Oxen would be attached and walk in a circle. There would be another gear or two fitted adjacent to this piece. The cane would be placed between gears and the juice would flow down into a bottom piece of wood which would then run down to a collection container.
